Race-used helmet from Robby Gordon's rookie season in CART

Robby Gordon has been one of the most versatile drivers of his generation, winning a pair of CART races and three NASCAR Cup Series races, and with another gallon of fuel he might have won the 1999 Indianapolis 500.

Today we feature one of Troy Lee Designs' earliest paint jobs with this Simpson helmet from Gordon's rookie season in CART in 1993. Gordon drove for A.J. Foyt's team that season, finishing second at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and third in the season-opening street race at Surfers Paradise, Australia, the latter won a series rookie you might have heard of -- Nigel Mansell.

Gordon won his two CART races in 1995, and fittingly they came on different types of tracks. His first win came at Phoenix International Raceway, a short oval, and the second win came at the Belle Isle street circuit in Detroit.

Gordon's versatility was on display in Cup, too. He won a short oval race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2001 and a pair of road course races at Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International in 2003. His win in NASCAR's Xfinity Series came at Richmond International Raceway, another short oval, in 2004. Even his four wins in Trucks showed his versatility: the tracks were North Wilkesboro Speedway (half-mile), Las Vegas Motor Speedway (1.5-mile), Auto Club Speedway (2-mile) and Bristol Motor Speedway (a high-banked half-mile).

This is truly a beautiful helmet, and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Don't miss the chance to secure it for your collection.
