Late 1950's/ Early 60's Harry Heuer Signed Race Used Bell 500 TX Helmet and Suit

This very rare original Bell 500 TX helmet was one of the first snell rated helmets manufactured by Bell in the late 1950’s. These helmet models are highly sought after by collectors and this one has the beautiful hand painted design for Harry Heuer added to it.

Harry Heuer was one of the dominant big modified racers of the early 1960s. Peter Hand Brewery purchased a pair of Mk II Scarabs 1959 and hired Augie Pabst, Jr., and Harry Heuer to drive them with Heuer as team manager that first season. The new outfit was dubbed Team Meister Brauser. The helmet seems to have been used in 5 or so races in 1959 and the suit also possibly worn by team mate Pabst Bahamas speed week.

Heuer won the B Modified National Championship in ’61. In ’62, the brewery purchased Jim Hall’s first Chaparral for Heuer to campaign, and he won the C Modified National title with the car in both ’62 and ’63 after which Team Meister Brauser was dissolved.

The helmet has been signed and comes with Heuer’s original matching suit along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
