Adrian Newey Personal McLaren F1 Suit
This personal McLaren Formula 1 team suit was worn by legendary engineer Adrian Newey during the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
During the 1990s, Formula 1 engineers, mechanics, and other pit crew members commonly wore specialized fire-resistant racing suits. These suits provided essential protection against the increased fire risks associated with pit lane activity and in-race refuelling.
The suit dates from one of the most important periods of Newey’s career. After joining McLaren as Technical Director, Newey played a crucial role in developing the cars that carried Mika Häkkinen to back-to-back Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championships in 1998 and 1999. McLaren also secured the Constructors’ Championship in 1998.
Team-worn suits belonging to prominent Formula 1 engineers and designers are considerably more difficult to obtain than driver suits due to scarcity, making this an exceptionally rare piece of McLaren and Formula 1 history. A truly one-of-a-kind item connected to one of the most successful and influential designers in motorsport history.
This historical Adrian Newey McLaren suit is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
