Race-used helmet worn by Valtteri Bottas during the 2020 Formula 1 season at both the Eifel and Turkish Grands Prix while driving for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. Valtteri Bottas is a Finnish racing driver currently competing in Formula One with Mercedes, racing under the Finnish flag, having previously driven for Williams from 2013 to 2016. Bottas has won nine races, three in 2017, four in 2019 and two in 2020, since joining Mercedes in 2017.
Bottas took pole position for the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, but was overtaken by Hamilton for the lead and later fell further behind after Hamilton was able to make a pit stop during a virtual safety car period. Shortly afterwards, Bottas complained of power loss and was forced to retire from the race. The helmet has been photo-matched to his pole in qualifying at the Eifel GP. It was also race worn in Turkey where the helmet became very dirty from the wet race conditions and remains uncleaned. Bottas had a very successful 2020 season finishing on the podium a total of 11 times, which included wins at the Austrian & Russian GPs each, and along with 5 seconds and 3 third place finishes. He ended the season with 223 points earning him a strong second place in the overall Drivers' Championship.
This distinctive Stilo helmet is in black and white, with blue accents. It has the Monster Energy Drinks and Bose branding logos around the top of the helmet with the Mercedes logo on the top front portion in line with these. Below this, on the back of the helmet, is a 'Stronger Together' emblem as well. Epson and Petronas branding logos are on the visor sun strip and the Tibco Software branding logo is on the chin.
