Once regarded as one of the brightest rising stars in European motorsport, Norris was a member of the McLaren Young Driver Programme. He won the Formula 3 Championship in 2017 before finishing second in Formula 2 the following year.

The British Belgian driver made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2019 and opened his second season with a third place finish at the Austrian Grand Prix. The 2021 season would become his breakout year, highlighted by a career best second place finish at Monza as McLaren secured a one two result with teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Norris recorded three additional podium finishes that season and finished sixth in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
