Sparco suit worn by Josef Newgarden during the 100th running of the Indy 500 in 2016 while driving for Ed Carpenter Racing. The American driver looked to have the pole position locked up until James Hinchliffe beat his time. Nevertheless Newgarden was still considered on of the favorites starting on the front row. Newgarden was in a great battle with Carlos Munoz for what seemed to be the win until rookie driver Alexander Rossi stretched his last stint in order to do one last pit stop over the others, taking the shock victory in the process, with Newgarden finishing in 3rd place.

Josef Newgarden was the only American to ever hold the Formula Ford Festival title (2008) and would continue to run the Formula Ford series for 2009 as well. He went on to race in GP3 in 2010 and then moved back to US soil to race in Indy Lights in 2011, duly becoming that series Champion. He won the Indy Light title in spectacular fashion with the most number of wins in the season, highlighted by the New Hamshire race were he lapped the entire field, setting the stage for his move to IndyCar.

Newgarden has been in IndyCar from 2012 to present day, racking up an impressive 20 wins, 41 podiums and 15 poles resulting in 2 IndyCar Championships (2017 & 2019) and 2 Runner-Ups (2020 & 2021).

The native of Nashville, TN. is probably one of the most under-appreciated Champions of this era. To put it in perspective, he has more wins and titles than all of the following drivers: Jacques Villeneuve, Danny Sullivan, Tony Kanaan, Kenny Brack, JP Montoya, Arie Luyendyk, Jimmy Vasser, Dan Gurney, Simon Pagenaud, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Alexander Rossi and Dan Wheldon. At 31 years old and driving for the most successful team in IndyCar (Team Penske), you can be sure he will be adding more Championships and potentially that Indy 500 win in the very near future.

Not only is he a great Champion but his memorabilia items are practically non-existent in the collecting world. Hesitate on this one and you might not see another suit of his being made available for quite some time.

This suit comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
