2016 Felipe Massa Official Limited Edition Replica Williams F1 Helmet
This absolutely stunning limited edition Schuberth helmet, painted by JMD Designs, is an exact replica of the one worn by Felipe Massa during the 2016 F1 season while driving for the Williams F1 Team.
The 2016 season, his second to last in Formula 1, saw Massa score 13 top-10 finishes while driving the Williams FW38. Massa's highest finishes in the World Drivers Championship were 3rd in 2006 and famously 2nd in 2008, with Championship going down to the wire in Brazil, Massa's home race. Massa did everything he needed to do to win the World Drivers Championship, putting his Ferrari on pole and winning the Brazilian Grand Prix in dominant fashion in front of an ecstatic home crowd. It originally looked like that would have been enough for him to win the title, but then with the rainfall increasing this allowed Lewis Hamilton, who was on wet tires, to pass Timo Glock, who still on dry tires, allowing Hamilton to achieve enough points to surpass Massa and take the Championship. The post race images of Massa and how he handled that sudden change in outcome, remain seared in the memory of all who witnessed it, gaining him the respect of a whole new legion of fans.
Massa retired at the end of the 2016 season, but with the sudden retirement of Nico Rosberg after winning the 2016 Drivers Championship, and with Williams' driver Valtteri Bottas moving to Mercedes, this created an opening at Williams. Massa filled this opening and rejoined Williams for 2017, postponing his retirement until the end of that season.
Massa's fantastic F1 career stands at 11 wins, 41 podiums, 16 poles and 15 fastest laps.
The helmet comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
