2001 Juan Pablo Montoya Signed 'First Win' Italian GP F1 Nicolas Watts Original Artwork
Fabulous Nicolas Watts original acrylic painting on heavy stock art paper produced to commemorate Juan Pablo Montoya's first Formula One win in 2001 at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. This would also be the Colombian driver's first season in Formula One after crossing over from IndyCar, after winning the CART IndyCar Championship and the Indianapolis 500 in 2000. Driving a BMW-powered Williams FW23 car Montoya led from pole position to take the chequered flag after 53 laps on the famous 3 1/2 mile track.
Approximate size of the painting is 16″ x 20″
The work has Montoya’s blue and white Williams from a ‘head-on’ angle as he negotiates one of Monza's corners. The vivid colors and detail in the work capture the action perfectly. The work is also personally signed by both Juan Pablo Montoya and Nicolas Watts, with Watts adding a race documentation note to the bottom left corner.
