2008 Loris Capirossi Race Used Suzuki MotoGP Gloves

Motorcycle road racing gloves worn by Moto Gp star Loris Capirossi. The Italian rider used the gloves extensively during the 2008 Moto GP season while riding a Suzuki GSV-R machine in his first season with the Rizla Suzuki team. The tops of the gloves are in the team’s blue and yellow colors and have Capirossi’s ‘eyes' logo applied on the cuffs of both gloves. The palm side are white and blue and the cuffs have Velcro fasting straps. The gloves were specially modified for Capirossi by his race engineer Alain Mestagh* with extra carbon fiber protection over the knuckles.

Belgian, born in 1959, Alain Mestdagh aka “Picasso” is a well-known figure in Formula 1 and MotoGP. His love for racing started with kart racing as a child. In 1986 during military service, he attended his first Motorcycle Grand Prix at the SPA circuit. Here he met the Belgian championship rider Didier de Radigues. Mestdagh was invited to work for the rider’s Team Chevallier as a bodywork painter and technician. In 1989 moved to the Aprilia Racing team, working as a trackside mechanic. The 90s saw Mestdagh go to Italy to work with the Lamborghini Formula 1 team and started a workshop, specializing in racing carbon fiber. In 1991 he founded Picasso Racing Components (PRC), and within five years had a workforce of over twenty employees. In 1999 Mestdagh invented a special system for combining hard and flexible composite materials into one, which he patented under the name Carbon Wear. He thus started a series of collaborations with many manufacturers involved in motor racing. Still experimenting with new technologies and materials he invented Softcarbon, an innovative carbon fiber fabric, which earns orders from the Italian, French, and Japanese fashion industry. His patented fabric is now used in many expensive handbags and leatherwear items worldwide. Mestdagh has also moved into drone design and launched his range of Devilray drones in 2014.
