2006 Terry Labonte Signed 'Final Race' Used Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Helmet

Simpson helmet worn by NASCAR veteran and two-time Cup champion ‘Texas’ Terry Labonte. It was worn by the Hendrick Motorsports driver sometime during the weekend of the 2006 Dickies 500 Nextel Cup at the Texas Motor Speedway. This home track event was billed to be Labonte's final race and was to mark his retirement from competitive racing. But the temptation to get back behind the wheel proved too strong and he ran another forty-odd races over the following eight years, finally retiring in 2014. Labonte ran almost nine hundred races in a career that spanned thirty-six years. He was also an IROC champion and a NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee.

This Simpson helmet has paintwork by Tonto Designs and sports a white lined multi-stars design that is overlaid on red hued images that show highlights of Labonte’s career. Two of the stars on either side have full-color images of Labonte, celebrating his 1996 Winston Cup Series Championship victory. On the crown is the message ‘Thanks for the memories 1979-2006’. On its chin is Labonte’s Shifting Gears logo and on the back is a Hendrick Motorsports decal. The visor has been personally signed and dedicated by Terry Labonte and is one of only a few helmets that was painted in this design. We have learned that one of his race worn helmets was also gifted to Rick Hendrick for his personal museum. This will likely be your only opportunity to own one like it today.
