2004 Jimmy Vasser Signed Race Used PKV Racing Arai GP-5 IndyCar Helmet

Arai GP-5 helmet worn by popular American open-wheel racing driver Jimmy Vasser. The helmet was used during the 2004 Bridgestone Champ Car World Series while Vasser was driving for his partially owned PKV Racing Team. A veteran of CART IndyCar racing, Vasser had ten victories and many podium finishes throughout his long career. He also had stints in NASCAR, Endurance Sportscars, and Stadium Truck racing. Since retiring from competitive racing Jimmy has become involved in race team management.

This helmet was used many times during the 2004 season and can be seen in many pictures. Sometime during the season a Troy Lee Designs (the helmet's painter) ‘Flying Tiger’ fighter decal was added to the top white panel above the eye-port and the helmet can be seen being used in this configuration during qualifying sessions for the Lexmark Indy 300 at the famous Surfers Paradise Street Circuit in Australia (see pictures). Otherwise, for most of the season this panel was left blank. The rest of the design of the helmet consists of a wide fluorescent orange band, edged in blue, that runs around the bottom and then bends up at the back to return around the top of the helmet where it is joined with the aforementioned white panel. Inside these bands, and on both sides, are light blue metallic ‘hot rod' flames that are edged in red. It has a dark blue metallic crown edged in orange with Vasser’s name on both sides. All of this is overlaid on the helmet's white base color. Tyron, Ford, and Vasser’s race #12 decals are added to the temple and chin areas respectively. The dark-tinted visor bears a PVK Racing sun strip.

Jimmy Vasser has personally signed-dated and added his race number to the top of the helmet.

The helmet comes with a full Certificate of Authenticity.

This is a great looking helmet from a well-liked driver and would make an excellent addition to any collection.
