In 2002 Scott Dixon came into the season already a race winner and with high hopes for his second year in the CART series with the PacWest racing team (now re named PWR). After just 3 races it looked like the team was about to fold so Dixon was signed by Chip Ganassi Racing which would be a huge turning point in his career. In 2003, the Kiwi and his CGR team moved from CART to IRL and Dixon won the Championship in his first season. He would continue with CGR for over 20 plus seasons in which he won 6 Championships and 55 races (both are second on the all time list). He also won the 2008 Indy 500 and often thought to be the greatest of his generation and possibly the best all time in IndyCar history.

This helmet represents a significant point in that history as it was spotted in use at many race weekends in the 2002 season both for the PacWest Racing team and Chip Ganassi Racing including Toronto, Laguna Seca, Milwaukee, Vancouver, Cleveland, Portland, Long Beach, Mexico as well as testing at Homestead in the IRL chassis.

This being Scott Dixon's very first Chip Ganassi Racing helmet and the last Bell he would wear is a real piece of IndyCar history.

Dixon has signed the front of the helmet in black marker and the helmet comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
