Sale price$9,500.00
Very rare original trophy presented to Newman Haas Racing after Christiano da Matta for winning the CART Series Championship.

In 2002 the Brazilian driver won 7 races plus three 2nd place finishes on route to the series championship for Newman Haas Racing. Driving the Lola B02/00 with a Toyota engine, his impressive season landed him a full time ride in Formula 1 for the 2003 season for Toyota. That season, fellow countryman Bruno Junqueira racing for Target Chip Ganassi Racing finished 2nd in the Championship resulting in being hired to replace the departing Junqueira by Newman Haas Racing.

The Vanderbilt cup has a long history in American racing having first being held in 1904. Other famous names to have been awarded this prestigious trophy include Louis Wagner (1906), Tazio Nuvolari (1936), Bernd Rosmeyer (1937), Mark Donohue (1967), Alex Zanardi (1997), Greg Moore (1998) and Paul Tracy (2003).

Do not miss this ultra rare opportunity to add one of these trophies to your collection today.

This item comes with a COA.

Please note this trophy was a much smaller scale trophy than the one that was annually presented to the driver.
