2001 Davey Hamilton Original Simpson Sam Schmit Motorsports IndyCar Helmet

This helmet was painted for Davey Hamilton for use during the 2001 IndyCar season while racing for Schmidt Motorsports. He didn't end up using this helmet as he suffered a massive, season ending accident at the race in Texas. His car was hit by an another car, causing Hamilton to slam into the wall with such an impact that he suffered severe leg injuries. After 23 operations and a year in a wheelchair, he finally regained his mobility. He had a strong desire to race once again and started working on that goal in 2005. He would go on to race again in 2007, the highlight of the race season being his extraordinary 9th place in that years Indy 500.

This helmet is in mint condition and has a fantastic paint design by Bullseye Visuals.
