2000 Paul Newman Signed Race Used Champion Racing 24 Hours of Daytona Sports Car Suit
This suit was used by Paul Newman during the 2000 Rolex 24h while driving the Porsche 996 GT3-R for Champion Racing. By driving at this race he became the oldest person to drive in a sanctioned event, making it into the Guinness Book of World Records. The suit is signed in black marker by Newman on the inside of the collar. A very unique bonus his custom made ear plugs were left in the pocket of the suit and are included with the suit.
Newman won several national championships as a driver in the Sports Car Club of America road racing, and his race teams won several championships in IndyCar racing.
Paul Newman won the GTO Daytona 24 title on his last attempt in 1995 saying, "When we won it in 1995 when I was seventy, well, I'll give it another five years and come back again,"
When asked why he would enter such a grueling contest of speed and endurance, the 75-year-old actor responded, "Just for the hell of it."
The historic suit comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
