2000 Jeff Gordon Signed Daytona Used NASCAR Helmet
Arai helmet worn by Jeff Gordon during practice/qualifying at the Daytona 500 in February 2000. During this era NASCAR was in its heyday with record attendance figures, high TV ratings, strong merchandise sales and even stronger incoming revenue. The drivers were literal superstars and the two biggest names at the time were Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Sr. Up-and-coming stars such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart were also well on their way to success.
A series of rule changes and aerodynamic packages placed on the NASCAR Premier Series team's vehicles shook up the action for the 2000 Winston Cup season. Gordon would record victories at Taledaga, Sonoma and Richmond while Bobby Labonte secured Joe Gibbs his first Championship at season's end. It would also be the final full season for Gordon and Earnhardt Sr. to battle it out as Dale Sr. would lose his life in a tragic accident at the first race of 2001.
Jeff Gordon is a four-time Cup Series Champion, having won the title in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001. He also won the Daytona 500 three times in 1997, 1999, and 2005. He won the Brickyard 400 five times and the 2017 Rolex 24 Hours as well. He is third on the all-time Cup wins list with 93 career wins, the most in NASCAR's modern era (1972–present). Gordon's 81 pole positions led all active drivers and is third on the all-time list. Gordon would win at least one pole position in 23 consecutive seasons, making this a NASCAR record. He was also the active 'Iron Man' leader for consecutive races participated in, with 797 in total through the 2015 season.
When it comes to memorabilia Jeff Gordon's items are very scarce indeed on the collectors' market. Having carefully kept and cataloged all of his race suits and helmets throughout his career Gordon has made very few items available for purchase. This very unique design was done for the Daytona 500, with the race helmet side airport fitted. This helmet comes complete with its original Hans clips, radio and microphone still fitted and was used numerous times during the Daytona 500 event. The famous DuPont logo on the orange background, the multi-colored feathers and the unique NASCAR 2000 silver chrome look will make this helmet the centerpiece of anyone's collection.
The helmet is hand-signed by Gordon and was part of Tony Stewart's famous collection for many years. We have recently acquired this helmet and it's now being made available for the very first time. Don't hesitate to take the opportunity to acquire the helmet of one of the most popular NASCAR drivers of all time as another one will not likely be made available anytime soon.
The helmet comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.
