1997 Greg Moore First IndyCar Win Miller Lite 200 IndyCar Trophy

This trophy celebrates the first career IndyCar victory of beloved Canadian driver Greg Moore, earned at the 1997 Miller Lite 200 at The Milwaukee Mile and came from the personal collection of Don Brown who at the time was the CEO of Imperial tobacco (Players).

Greg Moore made his CART debut with Forsythe Racing in 1996, finishing an impressive ninth in the Drivers' Championship and narrowly missing Rookie of the Year, finishing second to Alex Zanardi. In 1997, Moore’s talent came into full view as he captured the first two wins of his IndyCar career and secured seventh in the overall standings.

He continued to climb the ranks in 1998, adding two more victories and finishing fifth overall in the championship. In 1999, he opened the season with a powerful win at the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami, adding two more podiums before tragedy struck. During the season-ending Marlboro 500 at California Speedway, Moore was fatally injured in a devastating crash on lap ten. The race had been set to be his final outing with Forsythe Racing ahead of a high-profile move to Team Penske in 2000.

In his brief but brilliant career, Moore competed in 72 CART races, claiming five wins and 17 podium finishes. Renowned as a specialist on oval tracks and admired for his charisma and sportsmanship, Moore's legacy endures. In his honor, car number 99 was permanently retired from use in CART and its developmental series. He was posthumously inducted into both the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame and the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. The Greg Moore Foundation was also established to carry forward his spirit through charitable efforts.

Normally the driver gets a trophy and often the team also receive one. It's unknown if this was the driver trophy, team or an extra that was ordered. This trophy was dedicated to Don Brown CEO of Imperial Tobacco likely as a thank you gift from Greg Moore and the team and measures approximately 12 x 14 x 13 inches.

This trophy is a genuine piece of Canadian motorsport history and comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.
