Lyn St James won the Indy 500 Rookie of the Year in 1992. She started the race in the 27th position and ended up in 11th place. Sports Illustrated named St James as one the top 100 female athletes of the century. She also won the 1990 Sebring 12 Hours in her class while driving for Roush Racing.
