1994 Eddie Cheever Signed Race Used Mid Ohio AJ Foyt Racing IndyCar Gloves
Eddie Cheever’s career was more interesting and diverse than most car racing fans might remember.
Cheever raced for almost 30 years and included stints in Formula One, Sports Cars, CART, and the Indy Racing League. He participated in 143 Formula One World Championship races and started 132, more than any other American, while driving for nine different teams from 1978 through 1989. In 1996, he formed his own IRL team, Team Cheever, and won the 1998 Indianapolis 500 as both owner and driver. He was the first owner/driver to win the race since A. J. Foyt (one of Cheever's former bosses) in 1977. The team later went on to compete in sports cars.
While Cheever won five IRL races from 1997-2001, perhaps his most memorable results came during the 1983 F1 season when he joined the factory Equipe Renault team to be paired with Frenchman Alain Prost. Cheever finished seventh in the Championship with second-place finishes at Montreal, Spa and Monza, and with a third at Paul Ricard.
Cheever competed at Le Mans three times and won an IROC race by holding off none other than Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt. He stepped out of the cockpit in 2006 and became a broadcaster. His 14 Indianapolis 500 starts are noteworthy in that he had top-five finishes on either side of the IndyCar hiatus.
The gloves come with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
