1993 Ayrton Senna Race Used McLaren MP4/8 F1 Steering Wheel
The 1993 Formula 1 season marked Ayrton Senna’s final year with McLaren, during which he claimed five race victories — including his last career win at the Australian Grand Prix.
By this time, Formula 1 steering wheels had evolved into sophisticated control centers, allowing drivers to shift gears while managing traction settings, radio communications, and onboard display menus. The introduction of a 'quick-release system' also enabled easier access in and out of the cockpit.
This Nardi-produced McLaren MP4/8 steering wheel was used by Ayrton Senna during that 1993 season. Senna favored a distinctive flat-top wheel design, and this example reflects the advanced technology and ergonomics that defined the 90s era.
Steering wheels from the 1990s Formula 1 era are exceptionally rare, and finding one from the legendary MP4/8 — one of the most iconic cars in motorsports and one made specifically for and used by Senna — is nearly unheard of.
