1991 Ayrton Senna 3rd World Championship Race Used McLaren MP4/6 Front Wing F1 Mainplane
Front wing mainplane (measures 24" x 15 ") from Senna's McLaren MP4/6 which he drove in the 1991 Australian Grand Prix held on the iconic Adelaide Street Circuit. Senna, who had just come off winning his 3rd World Drivers' Championship in the previous race in Japan, qualified on pole in Australia and went on the win the race as well. With this win at the final race of the season, along with team mate Berger's 3rd place, McLaren sealed the 1991 Constructors' Championship as well.
Senna is arguably the greatest driver in Formula One history, and his career likely would have stacked up even better had he not perished in the fateful 1994 crash at Imola, at the young age of 34.
Senna won three World Championships (1988, 1990 and 1991) with runner-up finishes in 1989 and ’93. He won 41 races (fifth all-time) with 65 poles (third), but it was his qualifying dominance during a three-year period that likely will never be duplicated.
Senna had a streak of 24 front-row starts, including 23 poles, from 1988-1989. After qualifying fifth at Phoenix, he won four more poles to give him 27 poles in 29 races in the Honda Marlboro McLaren.
Senna would post 10 or more poles in a season three times — 13 each in 1988 and ’89, with 10 in ’90. He won races in nine consecutive seasons, including eight in 1988, seven in ’91 and six each in ’89 and ’90.
This incredibly rare piece from that iconic McLaren, driven by the legendary Brazilian racer, is now available. Don’t hesitate to add it to your collection as race used Senna items are exceedingly rare.
This mainplane comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
