1990 Michael Schumacher Original Mercedes Benz World Sportscar Suit
Original suit from Michael Schumacher's early career when the German driver raced for the Mercedes team in the World Sportscar Championship.
Mercedes were taking a different approach than most other manufactures by pairing young German drivers Michael Schumacher, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Karl Wendlinger (Austrian) with veteran teammates such as Jochen Mass, Mauro Baldi and Jean-Louis Schlesser. The mix of young raw talent and experience paid off as the team would see success with many victories including the 1989 Le Mans 24 hours and two world championships in 1989 and 1990.
Schumacher would pick up victories in the final race of the season in both 1990 at Mexico and 1991 in Japan. That later season would also see Schumacher make his F1 debut in the Jordan at the Belgium Grand Prix. The Mercedes team helped fund the young German drivers first start where he remarkably qualified the car in 7th position having never seen that track before. His performance that weekend ended in two F1 teams battling to sign the driver and he immediately made his entry into Formula 1 permanent with the Benetton team. The rest as they say is history as Schumacher would go on to win 7 World titles in F1 and break almost every record in the books.
Pictures show Schumacher wearing a similar suit from that season as well as the stunning looking Mercedes Benz C11.
