Roberto Guerrero competed in 29 Formula One Grands Prix between 1982 and 1983, becoming the first Colombian driver to start a Formula One Grand Prix. In doing so, he helped pave the way for future Colombian stars such as Juan Pablo Montoya.

Although Guerrero did not score a championship point during his Formula One career, he found true success after making the transition to IndyCar. In 1984, he earned both the CART Rookie of the Year Award and shared Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Honours after finishing second in his first appearance at the famous race.

His most successful season came in 1987 with Vince Granatelli Racing. Guerrero claimed victories at Phoenix and Mid Ohio, finished second at the Indianapolis 500. Indianapolis Motor Speedway was clearly one of Guerrero’s strongest tracks. He finished inside the top four in each of his first four Indianapolis 500 appearances from 1984 through 1987, recording two second place finishes, a third and a fourth. He later secured pole position for the 1992 Indianapolis 500, further adding to his impressive history at the legendary circuit.

This original Bell XFM-1 helmet remains fully equipped with two pop-off valves and its original radio. The helmet shows minor signs of use, while the USAC technical inspection sticker suggests it was likely prepared for use during the Month of May at the Indianapolis 500.

The helmet is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
