That season some him scoring his first pole & victory in Formula 1, with his commanding wet drive at the Portuguese Grand Prix, lapping all except the 2nd place finisher Michele Alboreto. A champions drive and a sign of what was to come with 41 wins and 3 World Championships, until his career was cut tragically short in 1994.
