We are pleased to offer this incredibly rare opportunity to purchase a piece of Formula 1 history the likes of which only comes on to the open market very infrequently.

This is a race worn suit worn by one of the all time Formula 1 greats Niki Lauda on his way to winning his third and last World Championship in 1984.

The Austrian driver was seriously injured in a well documented crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix is the only driver to date to win World Championships for both Ferrari and McLaren.

The 1984 season saw Lauda paired up with new team mate Alain Prost who proved to be a talented rival. They dominated the whole season as the championship became a duel between the duo. Prost won seven races to Lauda’s five, including the last two races of the season, but Lauda eventually prevailed by just half a point – the smallest margin in Formula One history.

This Stand 21 suit is one used from one of those races and is unique to all others he used that year. Reason being is that the team’s Major sponsor ‘Marlboro’ brandings that usual featured prominently on both McLaren drivers’ suits throughout the season are missing. For some reason Lauda, decided to use this non tobacco branded suit for one race and can be seen getting ready and sitting on the grid wearing the suit (see pictures). This probably making it the one and only time this suit was used. However the suit does have it’s other sponsor/suppliers patches of Hugo Boss, Segafredo, Hercules and Tag on the arms and Hugo Boss, Salam on the left chest. The Shoulder pulls also have tire supplier Michelin sewn on to them. The suit also shows use, with oil staining to the back.

As stated this is an extremely rare piece of F1 memorabilia/history as Niki Lauda’s used race equipment almost never appears of late and when a piece does it is snapped by collectors up immediately.
