We have been able to acquire a quantity of these rare Ron Burton Limited Edition art prints featuring the famous Indianapolis artist's depiction of the late great NASCAR/IndyCar Star Tim Richmond during the 1980 Indianapolis 500.
Richmond, driving for Mach 1 Racing, would set the fastest practice lap of the month (193.507 mph), but a crash on pole day morning prevented him from qualifying during the pole round. Richmond was the fastest rookie qualifier and led one lap during the race. He ran out of fuel at the head of the main stretch at the finish and was subsequently credited with a 9th place finish. Race winner Johnny Rutherford would famously give Richmond a ride back to the pit area. Richmond bested nine other rookies in the field that year.
The prints are on heavy art paper and the dimensions are 30 x 24 inches. They come personally signed by Richmond in pencil. In 1989 after a battle with aids, sadly Richmond lost his life.
These prints are very rare, as there were only 300 signed by Richmond in 1981. He talks about these being sold back in May 1981 for just $5. Amazing piece of history.
