2016 Jenson Button Race Used McLaren Arai GP-6RC F1 Helmet
Fabulous Arai GP-6RC helmet race-used by fan favourite Jenson Button. The British driver wore this helmet in his final full season of Formula One racing in 2016 while driving for the McLaren Honda team. This 2016 helmet capped off a storybook F1 career that spanned close to 20 years.
Button had a successful junior career in Karting, Formula Ford, as well as in Formula 3 before being signed to drive for Williams in the 2000 season. However, he will be best remembered for taking the Formula One World Championship title in 2009 driving for the newly formed Brawn GP team in its one and only season in F1. Button was also runner up for the championship in 2011. He finished his brilliant F1 career with over 300 starts, winning 15 Grands Prix and scoring 50 podium finishes. He has since moved on to compete in GT and Sportscar racing, competing in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race and winning a Championship in Super GT Racing.
As mentioned, this helmet was used during his final full season, although he did compete in the 2017 Monaco GP as a substitute driver. The full-carbon helmet, painted by UD Designs, has Button’s iconic design which incorporates his home nation's red, white and blue colors, with the patriotic Union Jack flag on the back and his ‘JB’ initials on both sides. His red race #22 is on the blue crown and China Dragons are on the bottom rear of the helmet. The sponsorship branding logos of Johnnie Walker, Esso, Mobil 1, and Sensodyne have also been added to the design. The helmet comes as last used with the track chips and grime still on the helmet, as well as having all air deflectors and HANS post anchors still attached. The helmet has a UD Designs I.D. tag on the back which reads ‘JB10/16RC.
