This helmet was heavily used by Jim McElreath throughout the 1979 USAC Championship car season, including a 2nd place finish in the Pocono 500. The helmet also comes with the original visor that was burnt and melted in a fire. 

Jim McElreath had a long and successful USAC Championship Car career spanning over 181 races in 24 years. McElreath finished 2nd and 3rd twice in the championship collecting 5 wins and 22 podiums during his career. 

The helmet is hand signed with black marker by McElreath and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
