The helmet was first used in the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku were featured Gasly’s dramatic retirement from the race. On the Lap 36 Safety Car restart, Alpine teammate Franco Colapinto locked his front tires heading into Turn 1 and collided with Gasly, sending both cars into a spin and collecting Lando Norris’ McLaren in the process. All three drivers were forced to retire from the race.
