2003 Gordon Johncock 'Legends of IndyCar' Race Worn Suit
Race suit worn by IndyCar legend Gordon Johncock. Best known as a two-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 and the 1976 USAC CART IndyCar Championship, Johncock also appeared in some NASCAR races during the 60's and 70's. He was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1999.
This special suit was used by Johncock during the ‘Legends of Indy’ event run at the Texas Motor Speedway in 2003. The event featured many retired IndyCar veteran drivers including, the Unsers, Johnny Rutherford, Parnelli Jones and Tom Sneva to name but a few. This would be the very last competitive racing event that Johncock competed in.
The white Simpson suit has a wide blue stripe with red trim running down the front left side of the torso. On the right side are the ‘Legends of Indy’ event logo, Johncock’s name and the Texas Motor Speedway logo. Stitched on both arms are large Texas Motor Speedway patches. On the back of the suit is a larger version of the ‘Legends of Indy’ event logo.
The suit comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
